1. CIA lists larger reserves of natural gas

According to data compiled by the United States intelligence agency, Russia is the country with the largest national natural gas reserve in the world. The country has 47.578 trillion cubic meters of fuel in its territory. This means that Russians own 25% of the world’s total natural gas. Among the top 10 in the ranking are countries in the Middle East and Asia. Brazil has the 37th largest fuel reserve, totaling about 364.2 billion cubic meters of gas. 2. Russia

(Getty Images) The Russians tops the list of countries with the highest wealth in natural gas, according to CIA ranking. The country holds 47.57 trillion cubic meters of fuel, which is equivalent to about 25% of total world reserves.

3. Iran

(Getty Images) Second in the ranking is Iran. According to the CIA Factbook, the Iranians hold about 15.57% of the total world reserves of natural gas. The country’s deposits store approximately 29.6 trillion cubic meters of the fuel.

(Getty Images) Qatar’s small emirate has the third-largest natural gas reserves in the world, according to the CIA database. The deposits total 25.47 trillion cubic meters of fuel, corresponding to 13.39% of the world’s reserves.

5. Turkmenistan

(Wikimedia Commons) The fourth largest natural gas reserve in the world is in Turkmenistan. The Asian country alone holds 3.95% of this fuel. In all, they are 7.5 trillion cubic meters of gas, according to CIA statistics.

6. Saudi Arabia
